Principles in Motion
As sovereign and omnipotent as the Lord is, He quite often will meet us in the simple and ordinary circumstances of life.
My brother, Aaron, and my sister-in-law, Carmen, sell real estate. Throughout the pandemic, we have witnessed the provision and blessing of God over their business. They have since needed to expand with a larger workspace and more employees. Once everything was in place, my brother invited me to come and see his new location.
On the day that I was to meet Aaron, I got in my new car, which was a gift from my husband for my 60th birthday, and was on my way. I am sure I was on auto-pilot because I forgot to program his new office address into the navigation system. So, what does one usually do when they fail to type in their final destination and know no one is looking? That’s right; I tried to plug in the address while I was driving.
This new, sophisticated car which does practically everything, was also trying to keep me alive. As I tried to enter the address, the car sent me a message that editing the navigation system was enabled while in motion. In part frustration and part thankfulness, I pulled over so that I could update the navigation system.
As I was modifying my final destination, my car sent me another message.
“Would you like to speak?”
I thought, “Would I like to speak? Why would I like to speak?!”
It finally dawned on me that while you can’t change the address while driving, you can speak to the car and inform it of your final destination. And sure enough, as I said the address, the navigation system updated, and we were on our way! So you see, even though I didn’t know that my new car was programmed to allow me to communicate by way of speaking, the feature was still there.
I sometimes think in life, we find ourselves in certain situations where we try to alter our final destination. Yet, at the same time, God has set principles in motion – spiritual things we need to learn or experiences we need to walk through – so that we can mature in reaching our Kingdom purpose. Just like the features of my new car, these things exist, even if we don’t know it.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” - Romans 8:28, NKJV
We read in this verse that God is working on our behalf. He is working together every good thing we need, in every season and every circumstance, for our good. While we may not know what lies ahead, God certainly does, and He will get us to our final destination, His destination.
So, how can we partner with God and His principles set in motion?
Pray and Seek God’s Face
Waiting is hard. Especially when you know and feel what God has put on your heart, or when you have been praying for something or someone, and you just don’t see any Kingdom traction. Whenever I struggle with impatience or a lack of faith and understanding, I run to the Father. As I sit before Him and pour out my heart and frustrations, He often will comfort me in a way that covers me in His peace.
Bring your worry, disbelief, and fear to the feet of Jesus. Then, as you leave it at the foot of the cross, be still and let the Holy Spirit speak encouragement and truth to your heart.
Speak His Word Over Your Life
God’s Word has the power to transform and redirect your heart and mind. It never returns void, and it always brings life. It is God-breathed and useful for teaching and training.
Isaiah 55:11 says, “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
Spending time in His Word is necessary for those who love the Lord. And unless we are spending time studying and meditating on scripture, we won’t be able to speak His principles over our lives.
Might I encourage you to create a daily space to meet with the Father in His Word? It is okay to start small with a few verses and sow them into your heart. And if you are having a hard time finding margin, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal creative ways for you to meet Him in this space.
Remember His Memorial Stones
Our lives are filled with the testimony of the goodness of God. However, it can be hard to remember in discouragement if we don’t write these things down.
One way that I practice remembering His memorial stones (Joshua 3) is to journal every scripture God reminds me of, every answered prayer, and every encouraging word spoken over me. This allows me to have a record of His goodness when things seem hard. This allows me to see the breadcrumbs of my spiritual growth and how He has revealed His faithfulness.
Sister, be encouraged! God has principles in motion to make sure you and I reach our full potential. He is and will always align Kingdom truths and circumstances so that our purpose is manifested in this world to make a Kingdom impact.
