Unshakable Confidence

Have you ever had moments in your quiet time with the Lord where you sit down, open your Bible and just feel frustrated?

Maybe you feel discouraged about a relational situation that seems to be going nowhere.

Perhaps you have been praying for your children, and you feel discouraged because it seems that the more you pray, the worse it gets.

Quite possibly, you may be walking through a circumstance at work where your hard work doesn’t seem to be noticed, and you are left overlooked and ignored.

You are not alone.

Recently, as I was spending time with the Lord, I felt this way. I approached His throne feeling utter defeat while asking myself, “Why bother? It’s never going to change.” (And at the moment, sometimes it feels that way, doesn’t it?)

Then, the Holy Spirit met me within the black and white pages of His infallible Word.

As I was praying, He said to me, “Trina, suck it up, girl! God’s got this, and because of that, you are more than a conqueror!”

You Are More Than a Conqueror

One of the most well-known Bible passages of scripture is Romans 8:31-39. Here we see Paul encouraging and reminding the church that even as they walk through trials and tribulations and experience hardships of many kinds, they can have the assurance that God is who He says He is. We can be assured that we have victory in Him because He defeated death and holds all the power! For even in His victory and through His immense love for us, verse 37 says that we are more than conquerors in Christ.

So here are three things God has taught me in Romans 8.

Who Can Be Against Us?

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” - Romans 8:31, NKJV

Because God is for us and with us, what human on earth can be against us?

The Amplified Version says, “If God is for us, who can be [successful] against us?”

God’s word is very clear that no one, thing, or circumstance can or ever will defeat the children of God. Because the Father is the giver of all good and gracious things (James 1:17), we can rest assured that He will always provide a provision, strength, rest, wisdom, patience, and peace through anything we endure.

And because God is Sovereign, and we are conquerors in Him, no one will be successful in scheming against us, whether we see it in this life or our eternal one.

Who Can Bring a Charge Against Us?

“Who will bring any charge against us those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.” - Romans 8:33, NIV

We live in a very heartbreaking time. People are hurting, people are angry, and people are broken.

In fact, as a result of those things, you may have experienced another person falsely accusing you of something. You may have even been on the receiving end of a gossip-infused conversation gone awry.

And that is not an easy thing to endure.

May I encourage you? Jesus, our Savior and perfect example of how to live on this earth knew this very well. He received insults and false accusations of many kinds, yet he was quiet as a lamb (Mark 15:3-5).

What a beautiful example of how we should allow God to justify the wrongs done to us in our own lives. Even more so, Jesus trusted that God would make right the wrongs done to him, and he was God in the flesh!

What about you? Is there a current situation that you are trying in your own strength to justify?

Who Can Separate Us From the Love of God?

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 8:38-39, NIV

Though we may walk through the valley of the shadow of death, which may be a new path or one we are very well aquatinted with, there is not one thing that could ever separate us from the love, power, and victory in Christ.

God sees your pain, He knows your experience, and Christ is interceding on our behalf. God’s word declares that the blood of the Lamb covers us, and from that place, we can walk victoriously on the path before us.

I encourage you to stand firm, focus on Jesus and His Word and endure as you trust God in all that He says.

Don’t give up, sister. You are fierce, you are bold, and you are more than a conqueror.
